Students explore the differences between economic needs and wants. They encounter opportunity cost and trade-off situations and learn about the personal and societal benefits of work and trading.

Students participate in an interactive game and a whole-class economy activity in which they purchase, produce and sell materials and goods to investigate the role supply, demand and government have in determining prices. Teamwork is essential if students are to master the market!

Follow-up resources and professional learning certificates are provided for all attending teachers.

Important Information

• The incursion runs for 80-90 minutes.

• Group sizes are limited to a maximum of 35 students.

• We can run a maximum of three sessions per day.

• We require a large open area in which to run the incursion. An area about the size of a double classroom as a minimum is ideal.

• We require access to the incursion location 45 to 60 minutes before the start time to begin setting up.

• We will need to be in one location for the day as setup can take some time.

• Teachers are responsible for supervision of students at all times.

• Attending teachers will be provided with professional learning certificates.
