Parliament Day
Parliament Day is a great option for schools wishing to maximise learning in the civics and citizenship curriculum.
Parliament Day includes our Parliament Process and Parliament Experts incursions in expanded form, and brings 4 hours of government and democracy fun to your classroom.
Through interactive presentations, videos, and discussions, students examine the foundations of democracy, the purpose of politics, the role of government, the nature of political systems, and the electoral and law-making processes.
Students use role plays, costumes and props to participate in an election, a referendum, and two Federal Parliament debates. With new knowledge presented in fun and engaging activities, the day culminates in a lively and passionate Senate debate, in which students prepare and present persuasive speeches on the topic of discussion.
Follow-up resources and professional learning certificates are provided for all attending teachers.
Suitable for primary school students in Year 5 and Year 6. View curriculum links here.
